This has been an exciting week for LEAD students. Eight classes, including LEAD hosted Trickster Theatre at our school. Our class worked hard all week to create and practice a short play on the theme of Leadership and Belonging . The week culminated with all eight Ernest Morrow classes performing their short plays in front of other students and parents. It was inspiring and exciting to see the process. Students throughout the week were enthusiastic, and although they were a bit nervous presenting their play in front of their peers, they did an exceptional job! Have a great weekend!

Our classroom looks more colourful. We have displayed student art with photos, and words of gratitude. Students also wrote paragraphs about what they are grateful for, then they typed them up in Google Drive and shared them with Ms. Armstrong. In Science we continued to label body parts and focused on eyes and watched a good video about animal vision. We have looked at optical illusions online, and are just finishing an op art project. Students continued using multiplication facts to do division. Students can access Math Playground at home to sharpen math skills. https://www.mathplayground.com/ We did a review of nouns and adjectives, including count and non-count nouns. Guided reading is part of our weekly schedule.

Monday, September 30th was Orange Shirt Day. As a class we watched videos, and read books on the topic of Indigenous Peoples and residential schools. Our school had a museum set up in our cafeteria and we were able to visit it, and continue our discussions. This week we've been working on the theme of gratitude. First, we brainstormed and made a list of all the things we are grateful for. Next, we started an art project using watercolour pencils and we are going to add a collage that includes a picture of each student, and the things they are grateful for. Finally, the students wrote paragraphs on this theme. In Science this week, we continued to investigated the human body and looked at parts of the eye, nose and ear.
