Our LEAD class has been working on equivalent fractions for the last two weeks. Next week we are going to review and learn new multiplication and division facts.

In Science, we have been exploring the five senses, discussing how humans and animals use them. We spent sometime outside this week observing and recording things we saw, heard, smelled and could touch. In addition we've been watching videos found on BrainPop, and labelling parts of the human body. This includes: the digestive, respiratory, muscular, nervous and skeletal systems.

Students continue to do spelling work on 20 new words a week, including alphabetical order and writing sentences. We are also working in small guided reading groups to improve decoding and comprehension skills.

This has been an exciting week for LEAD students. Eight classes, including LEAD hosted Trickster Theatre at our school. Our class worked hard all week to create and practice a short play on the theme of Leadership and Belonging . The week culminated with all eight Ernest Morrow classes performing their short plays in front of other students and parents. It was inspiring and exciting to see the process. Students throughout the week were enthusiastic, and although they were a bit nervous presenting their play in front of their peers, they did an exceptional job! Have a great weekend!

This week we started a Science Unit on the Human Body. We learned a lot of new vocabulary, and are having fun using the website called Learning Chocolate to practice labelling. We also started Guided Reading groups, reading a common book to discuss and answer comprehension questions. Students continue writing paragraphs, using a word wall of adjectives we've compiled. Tonight is Meet the Teacher evening between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. We hope to see a lot of families!
